Pearl17f, Reverse of 1870s carte de visite by James Grey of Stonehouse, Plymouth
This portrait of a little girl shows the problem early photographers faced when sitters turned up in bright white dresses as hers has become over exposed and lost its detail before darker items in the photograph were ready. She rests on the back of an chair with an ornate scroll and large tassel. She may be holding flowers but the details are hard to see and are not helped by the general deterioration of the image.
