Portrait of a young woman wearing a full dress seated in front of a painted backdrop. The impression is that this may be a temporary studio arrangement as the screen is crooked and furniture intrudes into the lower left of the picture. (Once in an album these faults would not show.) Her right hand fingers are curled unusually except for one finger and it looks like her hand on the book moved during the exposure.
