Edwardian Postcards

In the Edwardian era  affordable postage costs with multiple daily deliveries, attractive cards and advances in printing all combined to create a craze for buying and sending postcards.

At a time when cameras were not often owned by individuals, postcards are often the earliest photographs available, particularly in rural areas of the country. They might be made by local photographers, or by larger specialist postcard publishers.

Postcards are arranged by County with the location of each view mapped.  Messages have their own gallery, mapped to the location the card was posted to.

These postcard collections are scanned from originals and diligently checked to ensure they are out of copyright. If you think we are mistaken please do contact us.
