This long hot summer has us looking for something topical and this is a great photo of an unknown group of people enjoying a family outing to the beach in the 1930s. Which beach? We have no idea so can't put this one on a map.

Although the kettle and cup are prominent there seems to be a bottle of something else available!

We like to think that we live in an era of the fastest change. That may be true in terms of technology, but the elderly lady on the left would probably have been wearing a long dress with a leg-of-mutton sleeves and a bustle when she was a young woman, so I think in terms of dress her generation saw the most dramatic costume change in a lifetime.
