Page 24, Sarah Troughton's photograph album

We have made a start on uploading our Victorian Albums. First the pages are scanned, and then the images carefully removed and scanned front and back. Each image is researched, to provide extensive metadata and geo-located.

These photographs may be the only image that survives for these people, so we take the view even the most humble or faded are precious.

Most Victorian carte de visite dont give a name of the sitter, but do show the photographer's name and address. So it is possible to locate the photo quite precisely to where it was taken, giving an indication of the geographical reach of each family.
