Leach02, 1890s cabinet card by G West and son of Southsea
Portrait of two unknown women, most likely to be mother and daughter. The older woman holds a letter and they look off into the left. It is possible (if a little fanciful) to think this may link to the previous photo and that they are looking west to the source of the correspondence. The paper is not large and they look pleased so the photo symbolises 'good news received'. The younger women is wearing fresh Michaelmas daisies that can signify 'farewell' or a departure in the language of flowers.
