StonelyPhoto14, 1900s Cabinet card by Bert Flemons, Tonbridge, Kent
Portrait of Dorothy Violet Stonely. Stonely is not a common name, but the writing is very clear meaning that the only fit in the 1901 Census is for Dorothy Stonely as 6th child of John Stanley, Bellgrave Villa, Bellgrave Road, Wrexham. John is described as an employer and a hatter. Dorothy is wearing a particularly good hat in this photograph. so I suppose the connection is possible, but it remains tenuous. Certainly the quality of her clothes imply she is from a well off family and she wears both a bracelet and a necklace. Her hair is ringleted and lace pantaloons peep our from below her dress.
